Wildman's aggressiveness is our gain

In a recent column, Will Rogers compared candidates for election to

the California State Senate in District 21 on March 7 ("Story behind

candidates' differences," Jan. 8). He refers to Assemblyman Scott Wildman

(D-Burbank) as "aggressive."

state issues of importance to his constituents. It has been a long time

since we enjoyed that kind of representation.

His consistent voting record on issues of importance to older people

has earned for him a 100% rating in a legislative report card issued by

the Congress of California Seniors, a statewide organization.

I am confident that voters throughout the 21st District will prefer to

elect to the Senate a man they know will represent them "aggressively."

a continuing need to improve our health and educations situations in the

United States. It would be a shame for Democrats or Republicans to ignore

the need for innovative ideas in this area.

I believe no one has done more on the bipartisan level to bring about

innovative, new ideas than Rep. Jim Rogan. Rogan has been a continuing

proponent of increased health security for all family members, and a

constant promoter of choice and independence in a family's health care

decisions. This is the kind of leadership we need in Washington.

Rogan worked on a bipartisan level with Washington Democrat Jim

McDermott to help provide a health care tax credit that would help 30

million uninsured Americans get health coverage.

On the topic of education, Republicans rather than Democrats seem to

be the party of innovation. While I have heard nothing from the Democrats

aimed at improving our public schools for middle-income families,

Republicans have gone on record-promoting plans for school choice for

parents and education savings accounts for families.

While Democrats have largely controlled the cancer-riddled education

bureaucracy that is responsible for poor school conditions and

ever-declining test scores, the fresh ideas presented by Republicans are

gaining popularity.

On both the issues of health care and education I truly believe the

fresh, new ideas of independent Republicans like James Rogan, will be the
