Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Melvin M. Samson, son of Romualdo N. and
Elena M. Samson of Glendale, recently returned from a six-month
deployment to the western Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and the Arabian
Gulf. He was aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation.
He joined the Navy in 1996.
Aadel M. Najafi, the nephew of Essy Mohajer of La Crescenta, has
graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San
Antonio, Texas.
Jonathan N. Galicia, the son of Luzviminda Melding of Los Angeles and
Jose L. Galicia of Glendale, has graduated from basic military training
at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
He is a 1998 graduate of Glendale High School.
Pvt. Abraham S. Chong, the son of Jun S. Chung of Glendale, has
graduated from the light-wheel vehicle mechanic advanced individual
training course at Fort Jackson, S.C.
Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Delphin S. Montoya, the son-in-law of
Francisco Pena and Espiranza Fernandez of North Hollywood, will
participate in Operation Southern Watch in the Arabian Gulf.
Montoya is a 17-year Navy veteran.
Reinard P. Maylad, the son of Gloria J. Maylad of Glendale, has
graduated from basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.
He is a 1999 graduate of Glendale High School.
