"We have the saddest looking playground. My kids have learned to play

with old twigs and hopscotch," Holliday said. The school's old equipment

was removed in 1998 because it did not meet state safety standards, she

said.

Burbank High School will receive $125,000 to install lights on the

school's track. The Burbank Boys and Girls Club will receive $17,500 for

remodeling and to to purchase a lighted marquee.

The Jan. 8 vote followed a recommendation by the Youth Endowment

Services Fund Advisory Committee, which oversees the grants.

The YES Fund Grant Awards Program provides funding for schools and

other youth organizations in Burbank. The program was established in

1998.
