BURBANK -- When final results came in early Wednesday, Adam Schiff

beat James Rogan in a primary that means nothing but bragging rights.

Both Schiff, a state Senator, and Rogan, the incumbent congressman,

were unopposed in their party's primaries Tuesday night.

When all the votes were counted, Schiff received 2,664 more votes of

the 126,650 cast. Schiff gathered 49% to Rogan's 47%.

With the district skewed 44% to 37% Democrat among registered voters,

both men claimed victory.

Schiff was happy to be beating the incumbent; Rogan wanted to hold the

37% of district Republicans and get as much crossover vote as he could.

Libertarian Ted Brown finished third, receiving 2% of the vote, 152

votes ahead of Natural Law candidate Miriam Hospodar. All four candidates

will be on the November ballot.

27th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Four candidates ran opposed in a Congressional primary in the 27th

James Rogan, Republican, 59,429, 47%

Ted Brown, Libertarian, 2,640, 2%
