BURBANK -- Today is the start of the state's Earthquake Preparedness
month and the Burbank Fire Department has a handful of events to help
educate residents.
This month, which marks the 17th year of the campaign, features a
statewide duck, cover and hold drill at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in which all
schools and businesses are asked to participate.
The highlight of the month is an Emergency Preparedness Fair, which
will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 14-16 in the Los Angeles Zoo
parking lot at Griffith Park, said Rich Baenan, the department's disaster
preparedness coordinator. With other agencies, fire officials will lead
demonstrations and provide information.
Fire officials will host a preparedness discussion for seniors at
12:30 p.m. April 10 at the Joslyn Adult Center, 1301 W. Olive Ave.
Groups interested in having a fire official give a presentation can
call 238-3491.
