Masonic Lodge marks public schools month

CIVIC CENTER -- Three local teachers were honored as the Burbank

Masonic Lodge held its 81st Annual Public School Observance celebration

to kick off public schools month, which is recognized in April.

Martha Hankins from Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary School, Glen

Jaffe from John Muir Middle School, and Dave Thomson of Burbank High

School were honored at the event, which was held at the Masonic Lodge on

Tuesday evening. All three teachers received plaques and certificates for

their classroom work.

The Theodore Roosevelt Elementary chorus, Luther Burbank Middle School

Madrigals and John Burroughs High School Chorus all performed at the

observance.

Throughout the month of April, the district will hold events

celebrating public schools, district officials said.
