Student accused of assault with knife

RANCHO DISTRICT -- A 14-year-old Burbank boy was arrested on suspicion

of an assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly holding a knife to the

neck of a girl in a hallway at Jordan Middle School.

The boy was arrested Wednesday morning at John Burroughs High School,

where he is a student, police said.

Police said the alleged assault happened at 3:15 p.m. on April 26 but

was not reported until Tuesday afternoon.

A 14-year-old Burbank girl told police she was walking down a hallway

at the middle school with friends when the boy, who she knew, came up

behind her and put his arm around her waist and his hand at her neck.

Initially, the girl thought the boy was joking, but she began to

struggle when she saw a knife in his hand, police said.
