Burbank High teacher receives county honor

MEDIA DISTRICT NORTH -- Burbank High School teacher Dave Thomson was

honored Friday as a Los Angeles County Teacher of the Year.

Thomson, a U.S. history teacher who has been at Burbank High since

1984 and also serves as the school's Key Club's advisor, was one of 12

Teachers of The Year who were given the county award.

The teachers were chosen from a pool of 59 educators who were

nominated by their districts in August, said Rick de la Torre of the Los

Angeles County Office of Education.

Thomson, whose announcement of the award came in September, was

honored Friday at a luncheon in Long Beach.
