Want Fireworks? Head to Starlight Bowl

June 28, 2000

BURBANK -- As July 4 approaches, so does fire season and reminders

from public safety officials that fireworks are against the law in

Burbank.

"No fireworks of any kind are approved in the city," Burbank Fire

Marshal David Starr said.

That includes "safe and sane" fireworks, such as sparklers, sold in

other California cities.

Fireworks have been banned in Burbank for at least 10 years, officials

said.

Instead, the city will provide a professional fireworks display at 9

p.m. July 4 at the Starlight Bowl, 1249 Lockheed View Drive. Gates will

open at 6 p.m. with music starting at 6:30. Tickets for various seating

options are available at McCambridge, Verdugo and Olive recreation

centers as well as at the Park and Recreation Department Office in City

Hall.

Fire officials will be patrolling neighborhoods in the coming weeks to

ensure fireworks are not being used, Starr said. Those in violation could

be cited.
