MAGNOLIA PARK -- More than 70 artists and artisans and a live musical

entertainer will gather this weekend at George Izay Park for the Burbank

Summertime Arts and Crafts Show for the Creative Arts Center.

A portion of the proceeds from the event, which will take place from

10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday, will go to the Fine Arts Federation.

Arts Federation sponsors community events such as the Youth Art Expo,

Holiday Boutique and holds seminars for art teachers, said Ric Hebert,

recreation specialist.

The musical performer, Mehdi, a Los Angeles-based composer and

multi-instrumentalist will provide live entertainment through the

weekend.

The event, which is staged every July and October, will feature a

broad range of arts and crafts including ceramics, paintings, jewelry,

photos and handmade clothing.

The arts and crafts show has been going on for 12 years, said Carol

Finkel, recreation program coordinator.

In addition to raising money for the federation, the show promises to

be a positive experience for participants, Finkel said.

"It's to give artisans a chance to sell and to offer people in the

community a chance to buy handmade and one-of-a-kind things," Finkel

said.

The event is free and open to the public. George Izay Park is at 1111

W. Olive Avenue.
