The trio of Danica Cunningham, Sara Larquier and Tulyah Gaines led
Burroughs with a substantial offensive push. Cunningham had 14 points,
eight rebounds and six assists, Larquier had 13 points, 18 rebounds and
five steals and Gaines had 13 points and six assists.
Providence 51, Buckley 36: Allison Lane exploded for 19 points Tuesday
to lead the Pioneers to a Liberty League victory on the road.
Behind Lane, Providence outscored the Griffins, 30-11, in the second half.
Selina Tech added 13 points for Providence.
BOYS' BASKETBALL
Providence 55, Buckley 50: The Pioneers moved into a tie for first
place in the Liberty League Tuesday with the win over the Griffins.
For Buckley, (17-2) it was its first league loss and only its second
defeat this season.
Things weren't so good for the Pioneers in the early going, as they
were outscored, 22-15, in the first half. However, Providence came on
late, especially in the fourth quarter, when it outscored Buckley, 23-14.
Saugus 68, Burbank 54: One bad quarter Tuesday by the Bulldogs helped
lead to a Foothill League loss at Saugus.
In the third quarter, Burbank was outscored, 22-8.
Trent Cleveland scored 19 points and Devren Nunez added 15 for the
Bulldogs.
Burroughs 82, Valencia 74: Matt Torres and Keith Jarbo combined for 45
points Tuesday to lead the visiting Indians to a Foothill League win.
Jarbo had 23 points and Torres added 22.
The Indians played good defense late in the game, limiting the Vikings
to just two points in the fourth quarter.
GIRLS' SOCCER
Canyon 4, Burbank 0: The Bulldogs gave up two first-half goals in a
Foothill League loss Tuesday on the road against the Cowboys.
Saugus 3, Burroughs 0: The Indians couldn't get their offense rolling
Tuesday in a Foothill League loss at Memorial Field.
The Centurions scored two of their goals in the first half.
BOYS' SOCCER
Canyon 3, Burbank 2: Edward Navarro and Jeffrey Ruiz scored goals for
the Bulldogs Tuesday in a Foothill League loss at Canyon.
Burbank gave up two goals in the first half.
Cathedral 54, Bell-Jeff 39: The Guards faded down the stretch
Wednesday and lost in a Santa Fe League game at home.
Bell-Jeff was trailing by just one point after three quarters, but was
outscored, 20-6, in the fourth.
Bell-Jeff's Casey Markovic had 14 points and 14 rebounds and teammate
Andy Bunning added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
