Hart came up big in the competition, winning the match with a team
total of 384. It was followed by Valencia (394), Burbank (420), Burroughs
(425), and Canyon (426) and Saugus (426).
For Burbank, Brandon Maskell shot an 84, Erik Pak had an 85, Danny
Barber had an 88, Steve Lim had an 89 and Nathan Sheffield had a 91.
For Burroughs, Mike Vahoviak and Brad Jastrow both shot 84s, Shaughn
Crawford and Greg Everhart had 85s, Robert Enriquez had an 87 and Mike
Kim had a 90.
SOFTBALL
Hart 3, Burroughs 2: Burroughs lost a tough Foothill League game
Thursday at Olive Park, as Hart had to go to extra innings to get the
win.
Hart scored the winning run in the 10th inning when Casey Pickard
crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
Burroughs (9-8, 0-3 in league) played well against Hart (12-1, 3-0),
scoring two runs in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead.
But Hart tied the game at 2 with a run in the sixth inning.
Burroughs hammered out eight hits.
Village Christian 8, Providence 0: The Pioneers were one-hit Tuesday
in a nonleague game on the road.
BOYS' TENNIS
Burbank 17, Canyon 1: With the win on the road Thursday, the Bulldogs
have yet to stumble on their way to their 14th straight Foothill League
championship.
Burbank (7-2, 5-0) was led by No. 1 singles Shara Surabi, who had
little trouble rolling to three 6-1 scores.
It was the 108th straight league win for Burbank, a streak that dates
back more than a decade.
Burbank 13, Hart 5: Tuesday's match was suppose to be a showdown for
the two top teams in the Foothill League. However, the Bulldogs had no
problem handing the Indians a loss at home.
Valencia 15, Burroughs 3: The Indians fell Tuesday in the Foothill
League match at Valencia.
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Canyon 84, Burroughs 52: Despite a double win by distance runner Tony
Ahr Thursday, the Indians fell in the Foothill League meet at Canyon.
Ahr finished first in the 800 meters in 2 minutes 2.9 seconds and won
the 1,600 in 4:38.1.
Keith Jarbo had a good result in the 110 high hurdles, winning the
race in 16.1.
GIRLS' TRACK AND FIELD
Canyon 109, Burroughs 26: Carolyn Brown won the only event for the
Indians Thursday in the Foothill League loss at Canyon.
Brown -- the defending CIF Southern Section Division II 800 champion
-- won the 3,200 in 12.00.0.
BASEBALL
Burroughs 2, Saugus 1: Thanks in large part to Kevin Habitz, the
Indians were able to secure the Foothill League victory Tuesday at
Burroughs.
Not only did Habitz hit two doubles, but he delivered the game-winning
RBI for Burroughs.
Canyon 11, Burbank 1: The Bulldogs could manage just three hits
Tuesday on the road in a Foothill League loss.
The game was called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy
rule.
Canyon jumped out to a huge lead after scoring three runs in the first
inning, three more in the second and four in the third.
The Bulldogs scored their lone run in the fifth inning.
