BURBANK -- The 20th Annual Burbank on Parade was a great day for all.

"We couldn't have had a better day," said Joanne Miller, parade

chairwoman and vice president. "It was the biggest and best parade we've

had yet."

Among the many award winners in the parade competition was the Burbank

High School Bulldog Marching Band, which won the sweepstakes trophy as

the highest-scoring band in the parade competition. The band has won

every competition its entered in the past 18 months.

Thousands of residents attended the parade, which took place Saturday

along Olive Avenue between Lincoln and Lomita streets and boasted the

Powerpuff Girls of the Cartoon Network as grand marshals.

The Powerpuff Girls were joined by Bugs Bunny, Ronald McDonald, cast

members from NBC-TV's "All About Us," Danny Bonaduce of KYSR-FM (98.7),

the Burbank Burroughs Alumni Band and school bands from the Burbank

Unified School District.

Barbara Legnard-Hellman, equestrian chairwoman for the parade, said

everyone was a winner in the equestrian segment of the parade.

"Everyone won first in their respective categories, because there was

only one entry in each," Legnard-Hellman said. "We had a much smaller

turnout due to gas prices."

After the parade, trophies were handed out by Miss Burbank Grace

Calderone and Miss Teen Burbank Lynee Hastings during an awards ceremony.

Sgt. John Dilibert of the Burbank Police Department reported there

were no arrests or incidents during the parade, but he did say seven cars

were impounded Saturday between 7 and 8 a.m. on Olive, Verdugo and Orange

Grove avenues.
