Pasadena city council members and governors, senators, presidents, vice
presidents, world dignitaries and the FAA's own chief, Jane Garvey, roll
the dice and risk flying in to or out of the Burbank airport?
Why would the Airport Authority centralize its staff and gather all of
the airport commissioners, for all of their meetings, at an airport
terminal that is unsafe?
If the airport terminal is unsafe, why hasn't the Airport Authority
offered to relocate a same-size terminal?
The answer is -- safety is not the issue.
The real issue is that airports are a business. More flights and
airport parking represent cash profit. LAX wants to dump 300 to 400 daily
flights, and the airlines are ready, willing and eager to capture the
revenue from those flights. Airport expansion is about money.
If you follow the money, it explains the desire for a big, brand new,
shiny terminal. Build it, and they will come. The airlines will reap huge
profits, and a handful of developers and private investors will line
their pockets by building airport hotels, restaurants and parking
structures.
Don't believe the terminal safety hype. It's not about safety, it's
about money.
Measure A will be mailed on Sept. 10. Look for your mail-in ballot by
Sept. 15. Before you mail your ballot, please remember to sign the
outside of your ballot envelope. If you don't sign the outside of the
ballot envelope, your vote will not be counted.
Don't let a handful of people, who only care about their cash profit,
ruin our beautiful city.
Vote yes on Measure A.
