Question: What do Lew Stone, president of the Burbank Fire Fighters

union, the Rev. Larry Stamper and Burbank Airport Commissioner Bill

Wiggins all have in common?

Answer: They all signed the ballot argument against Measure A, the

airport control measure.

It appears Wiggins and Stone have formed an alliance with City Council

members David Laurell, Stacey Murphy and Dave Golonski and City Manager

Robert "Bud" Ovrom. ...

Since council members may not spend public money to campaign for or

against a ballot measure, that could explain the need for this alliance.

It's Laurell, Murphy, Golonski and Ovrom getting their punches in,

without standing on the front line. You know, looking good in front of

the voters.

Regarding Lew Stone and Burbank firefighters, it seems Mr. Stone might

be using his affiliation as president of the Burbank Firefighters union

in an attempt to evoke an emotional reaction, like a sense of gratitude

and respect for firefighters, in order to sway Burbank residents.

I've been told that less than 20% of Burbank firefighters actually

live in Burbank. Nonresident employees of Burbank must not advise Burbank

residents how to vote about any issue, especially one as important as

Measure A, which will affect the quality of life in Burbank and

surrounding areas virtually forever.

This is shameful politicking and a crude attempt to con Burbank

residents, to manipulate the outcome of a special election, one that is

extremely important to everyone's future.

When Burbank voters receive their Measure A mail-in ballot, the

mailing label will be printed as you are registered to vote. In order for

your vote to count, you must sign the back of your ballot envelope

exactly as the label is printed.

There are a lot of people, and I mean a lot of people, who would love

to see the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport expanded to mega-dimensions.

...

Let's send them the message loud and clear: No airport expansion

without caps on flights, noise and an enforceable curfew. No behind

closed-door good old boys deals, no get-rich schemes for the few, no

$1,000 luncheons with Washington bureaucrats.

No dirty deals at Burbank's expense. Please, vote yes on A.
