Cabrini Literary Guild has membership tea
The Cabrini Literary Guild had its annual membership tea Thursday at
the La Canada Flintridge home of Connie Alamdari. Irma Segura assisted as
co-chairwoman.
President Gloria McGill and the board of directors welcomed members
and answered questions about the guild.
Founded in 1943, the guild offers members philanthropic, spiritual,
cultural and social activities. Projects are the annual writing awards
open to all Catholic high school students in the Glendale, Burbank and
foothills areas, Catholic Charities' Loaves and Fishes of Glendale,
Salvation Army Meals on Wheels, the Good Shepherd Center for Homeless
Women, Glendale Friends of the Library Literacy program and others.

La Crescenta Woman's Club announces new officers
La Crescenta Woman's Club has announced its board of directors for the
new year.
Dea McCrory is president; Marge Thoney, second vice president;
Patricia Wichert, third vice president; Elsie Caron, recording secretary;
Donna Dieny, corresponding secretary; and Margaret Laughlin, treasurer;
and Deanna Alfeld, parliamentarian.
More are Carol Huntwork, house chairwoman; Lee Macdonald, rentals
chairwoman; Vicki Guagliardo, program chairwoman; Freda Yager,
philanthropy chairwoman; Louise Satterfield, press chairwoman; Marian

The group's first meeting will be Oct. 10. Archie Francis, guitarist,
will provide the program.
Annually, the club provides two scholarships to Crescenta Valley High
School students, one scholarship to a Glendale Community College student
and sponsors public speaking, music, art and writing students in its
district arts competition.
Members also support the Montrose Search and Rescue Team, Verdugo
Hills Hospital Breast Cancer Center, the Glendale Assn. for the Retarded
and others.
Auxiliary for Good Shepherd Center has first meeting
The Auxiliary for Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women will gather
for the first meeting Wednesday at the Women's Village of Good Shepherd
Center.
President Ludmila Gibbons will conduct the business meeting, which
will include discussion of the annual benefit luncheon in April.
Co-chairwoman is First Vice President Mary Wight.
Membership chairwoman Gloria McGill of Glendale will present plans for
the membership tea.
