SOUTH SAN FERNANDO DISTRICT -- The bloodied body of a 23-year-old

Burbank woman was found on the East Alameda Avenue onramp to the Golden

State (5) Freeway early Sunday morning.

Kelly Corinna Cortes was found on the pavement and bleeding from the

head about 1:30 a.m., said Officer Karen Faciane of the California

Highway Patrol.

Officials weren't sure as of Monday why the woman was on the onramp.

"We're trying to figure out if it was a homicide, a felony hit-and-run

or if she jumped fromthe car," Faciane said.

No other car was found nearby, authorities said.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday, but results were not yet known. With

the bleeding from the head, it was possible that the woman was killed by

being hit by a vehicle, said Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County

Coroners office.

"At this point, it's possible it was an [alleged] hit-and-run," he

California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, Faciane said.
