Lisa Rawlins, senior vice president for Warner Bros. Studios and
president of the Burbank Chamber of Commerce, recently presented the
grant to the ballet company, which makes its home in the Burbank Village.
The decision to award the grant was influenced by Rawlins' desire to
see the development and growth of a reputable Fine Arts Culture here in
Burbank, along with support by Burbank Mayor David Laurell, who shares
the same desire.
Rawlins is challenging businesses in Burbank to match her support for
Middleton, a third-generation ballet dancer, said without the aid of
corporations, the city and the public, it is impossible to get a ballet
company off the ground.
"I appreciate the fact that Mayor David Laurell pushed for this," she
said. "He believes in having a major professional ballet company in
Burbank and wants to see the arts grow."

the arts, but will provide them with a theater at their door step, she
On Sunday, the ballet company will perform the three works
choreographed by Robbins for musical theater. Company youth members will
perform alongside lead dancers in excerpts from "West Side Story," "On
the Town" and "Fiddler on the Roof."
Commentary on the shows and choreography will be narrated by
television and film actor Dan Roebuck and Middleton, who has been
brushing up on her mambo and plans to perform alongside her dancers in a
scene from "West Side Story." Roebuck will also perform in that number.
Company soloist Laura Smith will dance with principal dancer Jim Price
in dances from "On the Town." Company soloist Grant Wilson will make an
appearance in the famous bottle dance from "Fiddler."
Tickets are $15, $10 for seniors and students 13 and younger. The
performance will be at the Media Dance Arts Centre, 237 E. Palm Ave. For
