state's chambers was unforgettable, she said.

"First of all, you're in a place where the decisions are made that

affect the lives of the people in the state of California," Ramos said.

"As you look at the women who are from all over the state -- I was so

honored. I will never forget that day. Never."

Along with her work as a council member, Ramos serves on the board of

directors for the Family Service Agency, the Burbank Noon Rotary, Habitat

for Humanity and the Burbank Family YMCA.

Her other accomplishments include being a founding board member of the

Boys and Girls Club of Burbank, a past president of the Burbank Human

Relations Council and the former chair of the Burbank Police Commission.

Ramos attended Burbank public schools as a child.
