BURBANK -- Three John Muir Middle School students were arrested on

suspicion of bringing an explosive device to school after they threw an

M-100 from a second-story building's bathroom, police said.

The three girls, two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old, were arrested

Thursday, a day after they allegedly threw the lit device out of the

the top of a walkway near a building, Burbank Police Sgt. John Dilibert

said.

No one was hurt.

School officials conducted an investigation, and police questions the

girls Thursday. Police also found a second M-100 in one of the girls'

backpacks.

An M-100 is an illegal explosive device, similar to a firecracker,

police said.
