Leading the way was league most valuable Brandon Christianson from
Valencia, who earned a spot in the individuals with a 69.8 stroke season
average.
At the prelims at the Harding Course and finals at the Wilson Course
-- both par 72s -- at Griffith Park, the league teams did battle in the
two-day event. Hart's Joey Kroagman shot a two-day total of 141 and
finished second, Valencia's Greg Gauvin was third with a 146, Canyon's
Brent Buckingham was fourth with a 149 and Viking Doug Darcy was fifth
with a 151.
The five players qualify for postseason play.
For the locals, Danny Barber just missed the cut, finishing by
shooting 76s both days for a 152. Crawford shot 81 the first day and 78
the second for a 159 and Lim shot a 77 and 84 for a 161.
In the team competition, Valencia won the title, followed by Hart and
Canyon. The three will represent the Foothill League in CIF Southern
Section regional team competition.
In final league match, the locals finished strongly, as Burroughs was
third and Burbank was fourth.
For the Indians, Crawford led the way with a nine-over-par 81.
Teammate David Hamanaka and Robert Enriquez had 82s, Mike Vahoviak had an
83, Brad Jastrow had an 84 and Jon Hellebrandt had a 90.
For the Bulldogs, Barber had a 76, Steve Lim had a 77, Brian Ko had an
83, Ajay Clark had an 87, Brandon Maskell had a 91 and Shaun Young had a
97.
Kroagman of Hart was low medalist with a 69.
