BURBANK -- For the past 10 years, the United States Postal letter

carriers of Burbank have collected food donations on their routes, and

delivered it to the Burbank Temporary Aid Center.

On Saturday, Burbank residents are once again asked to donate

nonperishable foods for collection by the letter carriers. The donations

should be left outside mailboxes.

"What a wonderful sight to see U.S. Postal trucks line up in front of

the Burbank Temporary Aid Center on Burbank Boulevard and unload their

collection of food donation," BTAC Executive Director Pat Smola said. "It

truly says a lot about the caring hearts of the citizens of Burbank."

The food received Saturday will last nearly a year," Pantry Manager

Edward Stapleton said.

BTAC is a nonprofit organization that began in 1974 to help people in

need with temporary assistance, including food and other services.
