Williams, who had three hits and scored four runs. Teammate Bryan

Sheehey also had three hits and scored three runs.

Mike Diaz also came through, as his two-run single sparked the

Indians during their last-inning rally.

Westlake's bats were on fire early, as Kyle Brockett and Steve

Bralver hit two home runs on two consecutive pitches to stun the

crowd in the second inning. And Cody Cipriano crushed the hearts of

Indian fans with a third inning grand slam.

But Burroughs' perseverance showed, and Crowther was complimentary

of his team's outing.

"I think in the beginning of the summer, we might have packed it

in. But now we don't think anything's beyond our possibility," he

said.

"I know people are going to think games like this in summer aren't

that important. But the next time we're down by a lot, we're going to

remember this one"

The Indians began the playoffs Thursday with a best-of-three Super

Series at home against Simi Valley Royal. Burroughs won the opener,

10-0, in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy

rule.

The Indians were back in action Saturday, and again they downed

Royal, 3-1, to win the series and qualify for the championship

bracket.

In a second-round opening game Sunday, Burroughs defeated host

Canyon, 10-3.

In the win, Campbell pitched six strong innings and the Indians

pounded out 18 hits.

The victory keeps the Indians alive, as the team will play today

at 5 p.m. against Valencia at Valencia. A win would give the team a

bye Thursday.

A victory Wednesday would also put Burroughs just one win away

from playing in the VIBL championship at 7 p.m. Sunday at USC.

Valencia comes into today's game after a fine Foothill League

season and a great showing in the VIBL. The Vikings are 26-2-1 and

have rarely struggled during summer competition.

Valencia earned a meeting with Burroughs with an 8-3 victory

Monday against Santa Barbara.

"We feel we can make it to the championship," Crowther said. "We

feel like we can do just about anything right now.

"Usually at this time we are ready to end for the summer. But we

just want to keep on playing and extending our summer."
