of professional boxing.
The fight card, which is expected to feature five bouts, is being
staged in conjunction with the annual Love Ride motorcycle rally
Sunday.
"We're expecting a big crowd for the event," said Ron Williams,
whose RW Promotions has held a series of similar events at the
Hilton. "We should have some great boxers and some very good bouts.
"We have had some really good support from the motorcycle
community in the past. One of our continuing sponsors, Harley
Davidson of Glendale, has two guys who work there who are former
boxers."
One of the bouts with local interest will pit Glendale's William
Adamyan in a lightweight contest. However, Williams said the fight
might have to be scrapped because of a problem with Adamyan's
opponent.
"His opponent may have a problem with an injury," Williams said.
"So we are still waiting to see if William is going to fight.
"But if he doesn't fight on Thursday, he will be in another bout
at the Irvine Marriott March 18 against Roddy Garjida."
Adamyan, with an 8-0 record, has been impressive in fights in the
past at the Burbank Hilton.
"We are definitely grooming William for bigger and better things,"
Williams said.
"He has really been improving as a fighter. He is so dedicated and
he always wants to be in the ring training. He is also becoming a
better technical fighter."
One of the better fights of the evening will pit Arturo Flores
(5-4) from Pacoima against John Allen (0-3) of Bakersfield in a
featherweight bout.
