Managing health topic of seminar
BURBANK -- A seminar on managing health and safety in the
workplace will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Occupational
Medicine Center, 2211 W. Magnolia Blvd., Suite 110.
The seminar, which includes a continental breakfast, will focus on
giving employers tips for prevention and management of certain kinds
of injuries, such as back injuries in the work place. Roy Ashford, a
spine surgeon, and occupational therapist Dennis Miller will lead the
discussion.
The event is free. Registration and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m.
The center is part of Glendale Adventist Medical Center's
Occupational Medicine Services.

Chamber readying State of the City
AIRPORT DISTRICT -- The Burbank Chamber of Commerce is gearing up
for its annual State of the City Address and Luncheon featuring Mayor
Stacey Murphy.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 30 at Hilton Burbank
Airport and Convention Center, 2500 Hollywood Way. Among the
honorees at this year's event is former City Manager Bud Ovrom.
Table reservations are now on sale. A reserved table group seating
ranges from $750 to $2,000.

Krispy Kreme has sweet fund-raiser
BURBANK -- Southern California Krispy Kreme stores are offering a
way to raise money while satisfying the sweet tooth at the same time.
Today, 20% of Krispy Kreme sales will benefit the United Way. That
includes sales from the doughnut company's Burbank store at 1521 N.
Victory Place. Last year, the company raised almost $3 million
through its fund-raising programs, according to a Krispy Kreme press
release.
Fund-raising will be from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
