Dance enthusiast puts a spin on unique furniture

SECOND PART OF DANCE SERIES AT BRAND

The Brand Library Associates present the second part of their free

2004 Dance Series with a performance by Benita Bike's DanceArt

Company at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Brand Library Galleries in Brand Park

in Glendale.

Guests will see the performances of three dances, hear

introductory comments on each dance and participate in discussions

with the artists.

The three dances featured are "Overlapping," "Gottschalk Dances"

and "Angels and Wantons."

"Gottschalk Dances" is set to the music of 19th century American

composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk. "Angels and Wantons" focuses on the

complex nature of women. This dance work is accompanied by dancers'

whispers, medieval vocal and Baroque instrumental music.

The galleries are in Brand Park, 1601 W. Mountain St., Glendale.

ART EXHIBITS

ART DEPICTS PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD

Christina Ramos is exhibiting her candid acrylic portraits of

people from Africa, China, Romania and the United States at the

Creative Arts Center in Burbank.

Profits from the sale of selected prints go to missionaries

serving orphans, victims of AIDS and the poor around the world.

Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9

a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The show ends

June 24. The arts center is at 1100 W. Olive Ave., Burbank. For more

IMPRESSIONS OF NATURE AT BODDY HOUSE

Four artists are offering their "Impressions of Nature," in an

exhibit at Descanso Garden's Boddy House Gallery in La Canada

Flintridge.

Vicki D. Thomas expresses her "Visions of Nature" with watercolor

in her exhibit of florals, landscapes, fairies, gardens and children

at play.

Fealing Lin returns with a new collection of watercolors that give

a Southwest tone to florals and landscapes.

Anne Sears exhibits her one-of-a-kind porcelain and stoneware

pieces with touches of basketry.

Catherine M. Scanlon Cowles creates leaf sculptures, wall sconces

and collages.

Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admittance is

free with gardens admission. The exhibit continues through July 1.

Descanso Gardens is at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Canada Flintridge.

The gardens are open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Parking is free.

Admission fees are $6 for adults; $4 for seniors and students; $1.50

for children 5 to 12, and free for members and children younger than
