learn about the city's numerous departments and nonprofit

organizations.

The party featured "Mr. Burbank" from KYSR-FM's (98.7) "Jaime and

Danny's Morning Show," a Disney cartoon artist drawing caricatures

and games for children.

Frommer, along with various state and local political figures,

were at the event, mingling with their constituents.

Flames singe duplex's kitchen

MEDIA DISTRICT NORTH -- A weekend fire caused about $45,000 in

damage to a duplex home, authorities said.

The blaze broke out about 7:30 a.m. Saturday and was extinguished

by 23 Burbank firefighters nearly 30 minutes later, Fire Marshal Dave

Starr said, adding that the cause is under investigation.

"There was some damage throughout the home from the heat and

smoke, but the bulk of the damage was in the kitchen," Starr said.

No one was injured, and the family living there was away at the

time, he said.
