"community" to qualify for additional property rights as a planned

development, not merely amenities for the development on the site.

I hope the Platt people will take these comments constructively.

They have come a long way since they first came to town with the all

glass towers that looked like they belonged in Century City or

downtown Chicago.

By designing a project that will retain the on-street parking, it

will be compatible and continue to allow the existing older

residential multi-family housing units to survive and make the

project more friendly and compatible with the surrounding

multi-family and single-family community. Without on-street parking,

the residential units on the north side of Alameda will have no place

to park and will further impact the residential neighborhood to the

north.

A project is supposed to mitigate its impacts; that includes any

parking that it displaces. Thank you Leader for giving the community

the opportunity to comment further on the project.

Concerns of residents never off base

I'm writing in regard to Alfred Aboulsaad's letter ("Growing pains

evident in city, at council meetings," Oct. 20 Leader). Alfred has

accused me of not caring for the business traveler who has to shuttle

or drive 30 miles to LAX.

Alfred is very misinformed. An expanded airport does not

necessarily guarantee that a person will fly out of Burbank. There

was a lot more factors involved.

It's not that I don't care, it's just I care more about the

quality of the resident's lives of Burbank and those in surrounding

cities. An expanded airport will bring more noise, more pollution and

more health problems.

I guarantee that as fact as do the experts who deal with health

issues and the affect of airports on the human psyche. In fact, don't

take my word for it. Go to www.nrdc.org and check out the National

Resource Defense Council and read what they have to say about

expanded airports. Their website is very informative and I just

ordered their booklet, "Flying Off Course," which deals with the

negative affects of airports and expansion.

Alfred further accuses of me of only doing things for my own best

interest. I know a number of residents who have complained about many

of the same things I bring up at the council meetings. Obviously,

Alfred doesn't know how I work. He also accused me of not speaking

out on issues vital to the city, such as the horses in front of P.F.

Chang's. For his information, many residents have stated how much

they do not like those horses.
