Trolley project discussed

WHAT HAPPENED

The council had a discussion on whether to join Glendale in a rail

trolley project.

WHAT IT MEANS

The council went ahead with looking into the cost of joining

Glendale in building and operating a rail trolley system to link

employment centers and transportation nodes. The Glendale City

Council recently approved spending $100,000 on a feasibility study on

the trolley.

VOTE

No vote was required.

HOUSING ISSUE ADDRESSED

WHAT HAPPENED

Discussion on sending a letter to the city of Los Angeles raising

concerns over a Sunland housing development project.

WHAT IT MEANS

The council took a position that the Canyon Hills development in

the Verdugo Mountains will result in loss of vistas and hiking

opportunities. A letter outlining those concerns will be sent to the

city of Los Angeles, which has final approval of the project.

VOTE

The council voted 3-2 in favor of sending the letter. Councilman

Dave Golonski and Councilwoman Stacey Murphy cast dissenting votes.
