others, are what enable the Salvation Army to provide the many
services to needy families throughout the year."
Each year the organization provides a Thanksgiving dinner to more
than 300 members of the community. The needy may also get breakfast
and lunch there Tuesdays through Fridays.
The Salvation Army also provides social services such as rent and
utility payment assistance, food boxes, and toys for more than 325
families in Burbank, North Hollywood and the Sun Valley area through
the Christmas "Angel Tree" Program.
Vons, Pavilions, Sav-on, Albertsons, K-Mart and Fry's Electronics
have authorized the Army to raise funds at their locations, but since
they cannot solicit donations in front of Target stores this year the
need is greater, Hernandez said.
The Army will have its 18th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner
on Wednesday with two seatings, at 5 and 7 p.m.
There is no charge for the complete Thanksgiving dinner but each
family member must have a ticket.
