Merry Tuba Christmas at the Alex Theatre

This Sunday, December 5th at 6:30 p.m., the 29th Tuba Christmas in

Los Angeles will be held in front of the Alex Theatre on Brand

Boulevard in downtown Glendale. As many as 300 players make up the

large tuba/euphonium choir. They range in age from 8 to 80 and come

from all over Southern California. In addition there will be

performances by the world famous Tubadours and the Los Tubas Pros.

Conductors will be Jim Self, Tim O'Brien, Steve Klein (conducting

some tuba Hanukah songs) and Glendale Symphony Conductor, Norman

Henry Mamey.

This free community concert is sponsored by the Alex Theatre, the

Glendale Downtown Merchants Association, the Glendale News-Press and

the Glendale Symphony Orchestra.

Tuba Christmas concerts are held in over 130 cities across the

nation including those by the National Christmas Tree at the White

House and at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.

The Alex Theatre is located at 216 North Brand Bl. in Glendale.

Validated parking is available for theatre patrons at three Glendale

locations: the Orange Street Parking Garage (parallel to Brand

Blvd.), the Marketplace Garage (located at the intersection of

Harvard and Maryland Aves.) and the Exchange Parking Garage (on

Maryland Ave., south of Wilson Ave.). The house manager will validate

parking tickets.
