Providence High School hosted its fourth annual "Promise...

Providence High School hosted its fourth annual "Promise for the

Future Gala" and 50th anniversary celebration on March 12 at the

Lakeside Golf Club.

Jack O'Neill, vice president of NBC Universal, received the

school's highest accolade, the Pioneer Award, for his dedication to

serving others through such organizations as Burbank Boys & Girls

Club, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Providence St. Joseph Medical Center

and others.

Sister Lucille Dean, principal, who has announced her retirement

after serving Providence High School for 25 years, also received a

special award for her dedication to the education of young people and

service to the community.

NBC weatherman Fritz Coleman opened the evening's awards program

with humorous observations on the Burbank community's relationship

with the media.

Silent and live auctions added excitement to an evening in which

sponsors and guests helped raise more than $90,000 in support of

Providence High School, its students and programs.
