AMBULANCE FEE INCREASE

April 30, 2005

AMBULANCE FEE INCREASE

The council held off on approving an increase in the fees charged

for ambulance transportation.

WHAT IT MEANS

The City Council considered raising ambulance fees to recoup costs

for transportation of patients.

The proposed transportation fees would increase to $532 for basic

life support and to $782 for advanced life support.

Current ambulance fees are $438 for basic life support and $672

for advanced life support.

The proposed fees match what the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors

set for ambulance transportation.

Rather than raise the fees, the council asked staff members to

come back with a proposal to have a sliding fee schedule so residents

would not be significantly affected by an increase.

PARKING LOT AGREEMENT

The council approved an agreement to loan Burbank Community Church

$247,000 to improve its parking lot in exchange for use of that lot.

WHAT IT MEANS

To increase parking, the council entered into a 10-year agreement

with Burbank Community Church for the use of the church lot at 3310

Magnolia Boulevard.

Forty spaces will be available to shoppers and employees of

businesses from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

In exchange for use of the lot, the city will loan the church

$247,000 for improvements, such as paving and landscaping.

The church would be forgiven $24,700 in loan repayments for each

year the lot remains open to the public.
