Relay for life Saturday

Burbank's second annual Relay for Life will take place beginning

at 8 a.m. Saturday at Robert Gross Park, 2800 W. Empire Ave.

For 24 hours, teams representing local Burbank businesses,

churches, clubs, special interest organizations, and families and

friends will come together to participate in the event to promote

cancer awareness through education and to raise funds for the fight

against cancer.

Highlights of the event include an opening cancer survivors lap

and the evening candle lighting luminaria ceremony in memory of those

who have lost their lives to cancer and to honor those still in the

battle.

Downtown Burbank will be swingin'

Downtown Burbank's second annual outdoor music series begins

Thursday.

The "Swingin' Sounds from Downtown" series includes eight free

concerts with public dancing to the tunes of leading live bands on

AMC Plaza at Palm Avenue and San Fernando Boulevard.

Nightly events will kick off 6 p.m. with dance lessons every

Thursday for the next eight weeks.

Bands begin at 7 p.m. and will run for more than two hours.

Performing acts will include The Jazz on the Latin Side All-Stars,

Michael Andrew and Swingerhead, Swingin' Deacons and Royal Crown

Revue.

All lessons and concerts are free to the public.
