Guild planning fall dinner dance

The Providence St. Joseph Medical Center Guild will have its annual

Fall Dinner Dance, "Autumn Gala," on Oct. 15 at Lakeside Golf Club.

Honored guest is Dr. Raul Mena, who has treated cancer patients

from all over the world at Providence St Joseph Medical Center for 24

years and is also involved in cancer research.

Music will be provided by Victor Cisneros Orchestra and

entertainment by Dale Gonyea. Proceeds go to the guild's $1 million

pledge for the Roy and Patricia Disney Cancer Center.

Chairwomen are Wanda Bistagne and Jo Massimini. Their committee

members are Kathleen Marsden, Grace Mylroie Patz, Pattie Cassidy,

Terri Lee, Rose Pastula, Lori Riela, Chik Smaldino, Maureen Walsh,

Marian Enos, Donna Mahoney, Linda Brundage, Maria Balke and Ollie

Vick. The guild president is Terry Campbell.

The gala begins with no-host cocktails beginning at 6:30 p.m. with

dinner following at 8 p.m. Tickets are $75 per guest. For

TENNIS BALL AND TOURNAMENT BENEFITS COUNSELING

Family Service Agency will benefit from the second annual Tennis

Ball and Tennis Tournament on Oct. 7 and 8.

A dinner gala with a silent auction begins at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at

The Castaway, 1250 Harvard Road. The Tennis Tournament and Silent

Auction will be on Oct. 8 at the Burbank Tennis Center, 1515 N.

Glenoaks Blvd.

Proceeds go to such youth programs including domestic violence

intervention, and counseling for individuals, youth, group and

families.

'GHOSTS OF HALLOWEEN' DANCE SCHEDULED

Adults and teens 16 and older with disabilities are invited to the

"Ghosts of Halloween" dance from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Oct. 14 at

McCambridge Recreation Center.

The event is sponsored by BCR -- A Place to Grow and the city of

Burbank Department of Park, Recreation and Community Services.

Music will be Mainline Sound Mobile DJ. Refreshments will be

provided by the Burbank Noon Lions Club.

Cost to attend is $2 and fee for caregivers. Guests are welcome to

wear costumes.

NAMES TOPIC OF GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY MEETING

Nancy Carlberg will be the guest speaker for the next meeting of

Immigrant Genealogical Society at 2 p.m. Oct. 9 at the society's

headquarters, 1310 W. Magnolia Blvd., Burbank.

Her topic is "Names -- Origin, Order, Spelling, Translation."
