George Sanchez was the lone Burroughs boys' varsity runner and he
finished 24th in 17:59.
Burroughs received a fine performance from its boys' sophomore
team, as it won its Division I race.
The team was led by Juan Mendoza (17:59) and Chase Western
(18:00), who finished third and fourth, respectively. Other finishers
included Bryce Burton (14th; 18:36), Eddie Garcia (15th; 18:43),
Bobby Acosta (23rd; 19:12), Jonathan Alpizar (24th; 19:16), Sergio
Vasquez (26th; 19:33), Andrew Shaw (36th; 20:17), Ryan Wright (43rd;
21:04), Royce Chang (46th; 21:20), Peter Algiers (52nd; 22:04) and
Scott DeVall (59th; 26:31).
Burbank in Clovis Invitational: The Bulldog boys' varsity team
placed 10th out of 27 teams Saturday.
The top Burbank finisher was Matt Carey, who was 35th in 17
minutes 15 seconds over the three-mile course. He was followed by
Ryan Williams (48th; 17:21), Aksel Kirakosyan (57th; 17:25), Wyatt
Kessler (71st; 17:36, Andrew Harris (87th; 17:51), Forest Goodbar
(90th; 17:56) and Aram Simonian (115th; 18:13)
The girls' varsity team placed 13th out of 27 teams. Michelle
Horgan led the way (48th place; 20:45) and was followed by Nelly
Shamirian (57th; 20:59), Natasha Christoffersen (67th; 21:13), Agnes
Kirakosyan (100th; 21:44) and Kiran Jolly (125th; 22:28).

Magnolia Park Optimist Club Invitational: Burroughs High's Alexa
Petroski did well, tying for third in the B Flight with a 11-over-par
48, Thursday in the event at De Bell Municipal Golf Course.
For the Indians, Sydney Dunivant fired a 53, Morgan Gunnell had a
65 and Katie Hodgins had a 67.
Burbank's Amanda Keith had a 44, Kierra McIntyre had a 53,
Michelle Chon had a 54 and Debbie Gatton had a 55.
Torrance (160 strokes) won the event, Valencia (170 ) was second an Hart (175) was third.
Burbank had 206 and Burroughs had 233.
FOOTBALL
Burbank Vikings: Three of the area's youth tackle teams came away
with wins Saturday in week-five games.
The best result was turned in by the Junior Green (3-1) team,
which defeated Castaic Blue, 36-8. The Bantam Black (2-3) defeated
Agoura Blue, 38-16, and the Senior Black (4-1) downed Calabasas,
28-16.
In losing causes, the Pee Wee (0-4) fell to Ventura Black, 34-8,
Bantam Green (0-5) lost to Agoura White, 32-8, Junior Black (3-1)
lost to Castaic White, 18-16, Junior White (1-3) lost to Castaic
Gold, 22-16, and Senior Green (2-3) lost to Ventura Gray, 38-0.
