Quest Club brings together children and parents in role-playing games that teach more than just how to roll a die. On Saturday afternoon, members of the Quest Club battled each other in a fantasy world of ogres and dragons in a lower-level room at the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood.
But for the final game, six of the club members went up against actor Matthew Lillard -- who starred as Shaggy in the two Scooby Doo movies -- and his three red dragons, who were protecting their treasure. In the end, Lillard and his dragons were triumphant.
"Pretending to be another person or entity -- the kids enjoy that," said Alfred Bowman, a mentor member of the Quest Club. "The fact they can kill without consequences, I think that is a big draw for them."
