Quilt guild sponsors 2006 show

Quilt workshops and wearable art displays are part of the three-day 2006 Quilt Show opening March 17 at the Hilton Burbank Convention Center, 2500 N. Hollywood Way, Burbank.

The show, "Romancing the Fabric," is sponsored by the Glendale Quilt Guild.

More than 50 vendors will be showing their wares. There will be workshops, wearable art displays, a Saturday night banquet and Sunday breakfast and fashion show.

Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 17; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 18 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 19.

Admission is $8, $2 for children 6 to 11. The drawing for the opportunity quilt will be at 4 p.m. March 19. For more information, go to www.glendalequiltguild.org.

News man receives honor at film festival

Cary Berglund of KNBC News will receive the Media Award during the fourth annual 168 Hour Film Project, a short film festival, March 11 at the Alex Theatre in Glendale.

Berglund will be recognized for his coverage of last year's festival.

More than 50 short films will premiere at a the event. Each film is based on a different Bible verse and produced simultaneously in just one week (168 hours). This year's theme is "Faith and Fear."

The top films are featured in daytime screenings from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The evening screenings begin at 7 p.m. with an awards ceremony and reception immediately following.
