Although she failed to qualify for the final, Bulldog Tabitha Crawford placed 14th in the pole vault with a 9-6 effort. She was the first athlete to clear the opening height of 9-0 after 45 consecutive misses.
An athlete who appears to have a promising future is Burroughs freshman Taryn Campos. The sprinter placed 10th in the girls' 200 meters (25.47 seconds) and 14th in the 100 (12.56).
For Burbank, Carolyn Chrzan has hampered by a quadriceps strain. As a result, she had to scratch in the girls' long jump. She did run the 400 and placed 20th (1:00.40).
The other Burbank participants were: Ryan Williams in the boys' 3,200 (24th; 9:57) and Dennis O'Dea in the boys' triple jump (20th; 41-3 1/4 ).
Burroughs' Michelle Martinez had a solid effort in the girls' 800, finishing 13th (2:22.20).
The other Indian participants were: Sydney Dunivant in the girls' triple jump (32-11; 23rd), Thomas Kyle in the boys' 200 (23.01; 33rd), Alex Sandoval in the boys' 800 (2:07; 30th), James Larsen in the boys' 3,200 (10:01; 28th), Lilyana Morejon in the girls' 3,200 (12:25) and Anthony Simile in the boys' pole vault (12-6; 18th).
The Indians also had three relay teams that did not make the cut.
