Man dead in bus vs. car crash

SUN VALLEY — A 64-year-old man was killed Friday morning after the car he was driving collided with a Burbank Bus.

Angel Castellanos, of Sun Valley, suffered fatal injuries after police say he steered his 1992 Infiniti in the path of a Burbank Bus while attempting to make a left turn in the intersection of Cohassat Street and San Fernando Boulevard, on the outskirts of Burbank in Sun Valley, Burbank Police Sgt. Tracy Sanchez said. Paramedics transported Castellanos to Holy Cross Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, he said.

The bus was on its way to its first morning route from the bus yard in Sun Valley at the time of the accident, so there were no passengers aboard, Sanchez said.

The driver of the bus was not injured, Burbank Police Lt. Armen Dermenjian said.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact the department, Sanchez said.

"The cause of the accident is still under investigation," he said.

Representatives for Burbank Bus had little information about the accident on Friday and were waiting for an investigation to be performed, Burbank Bus dispatcher Jason Abdullah said.
