Burbank City Council Meeting Wrap-up

VICTORY BIKEWAY

The council approved a resolution accepting a grant from Caltrans to fund a bikeway along Victory Boulevard in Burbank.

A "Class II" bikeway, the route would not be physically separated from the roadway. Instead, it will be designated by a mix of posted signage and in-road, striped lanes between Clybourn Avenue and Burbank Boulevard.

WHAT IT MEANS

The council's vote gives the green light to a top priority within the city's Bicycle Master Plan, which seeks to build upon the city's infrastructure to accommodate alternatives to motorized transportation.

The Master Plan in its totality would link the downtown area and the Metrolink station as well as connect the Chandler Bike Path.

LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS

The council approved a resolution to allow the League of Women Voters of Glendale and Burbank to use City Council Chambers to hold and film candidate forums during the upcoming election season.

The city had allowed the league to use facilities in the past, broadcasting forums to inform the public about candidates who are running and some local issues on the ballot. The forums are run on public-access Channel 6 at no cost to the organization.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council's vote will permit the voters forums to run on Channel 6 through Election Day.
