ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
The council will discuss the possibility of adding an oral communication period to the council study sessions that often precede council meetings.
Though the current meeting format does not include a public comment period during study sessions, the public has the opportunity to make comments in both the meeting before the study session occurs and when the study session item appears on the regular council agenda.
WHAT TO EXPECT
If the council decides to tack on a public comment period to study sessions, several questions must be resolved, such as how much time speakers would be allotted and whether to limit resident comment to sessions where public input may be particularly helpful.
BIKEWAY UPDATE
The council will listen to a report on the status of a bikeway that would serve as a north-south link between the Chandler Bikeway and the Riverside Drive bike lanes.
The bikeway would travel along Sparks Street, Oak Street and Beachwood Drive in Burbank. Residents near Sparks expressed concerns that installing the bikeway would have adverse affects on crime and safety in the area.
WHAT TO EXPECT
City staffers are recommending that the city proceed with installing the bikeway, which would be funded through a Caltrans grant of approximately $300,000.
