The center wants to create a pilot program with sixth-grade math teachers at the three middle schools.

District staff members are also asking that the assistant superintendent of business services, Steve Bradley, be authorized to sign the agreement.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The board is likely to approve.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Trustees will consider approving the application for the After School Education and Safety Program Grants.

The After School Education and Safety Program Grants were established when Proposition 49 funding began this year.

The approved state budget for the 2006-07 fiscal year includes $550 million for After School Education and Safety Program Grants through Proposition 49.

Since the funding will be provided through Proposition 49, the board will likely approve it.

The California Department of Education would provide one-time only funds to be used for the School-age Child Care Resource Program.

The money would be used to purchase equipment and materials for the benefit of children ages 5 to 12.

The funds are in the amount of $2,759.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The board will likely approve of an agreement.
