Burbank City Council Meeting Preview

December 16, 2006

ANIMAL REGISTRATION RENEWAL

The council will consider an ordinance that would change the licensing period for animals registered at the Burbank Animal Shelter.

The current policy specifies that animal licenses expire on Dec. 31.

The ordinance would change the wording so that licenses expire one year from the date of issuance, rather than at the end of the calendar year.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council will likely approve the resolution in order to streamline the process of license renewal, as well as remedy the inequitable existing system.

ENERGY PROGRAMS

The council will be asked to approve several proposed Burbank Water and Power programs that would promote efficient consumption of energy and energy that utilizes renewable sources.

Of the seven programs proposed, three are revisions to existing programs and four are new to Burbank Water and Power.

Among the programs up for approval are a Toyota Prius conversion program, which would put out bids for converting the Prius into a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.

The program would also implement a ultra-low flush toilet rebate program, which provides rebates to Burbank residents for replacing their high-water toilets with a more energy efficient substitute.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council will likely approve the plan, which will authorize the general manager of Burbank Water and Power to move ahead with program implementation.
