Doyle enjoyed success at Bell-Jeff, graduating in 2004. As a senior, the two-time All-CIF Southern Section honoree led the Guards to an area-best 7-3 record. At quarterback, he completed 78 of 161 passes (48.5%) for 1,337 yards, 14 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 174 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, he had six interceptions.

In his final two seasons at Bell-Jeff, Doyle threw for 2,890 yards and 27 touchdowns.

"It is a very good opportunity for Brendon at Weber State," said GCC Coach John Cicuto about the athlete who played one season at L.A. Valley College before coming to the Vaqueros. "We are looking for him to do very well and help that program."

Ayers also played just one season at GCC, as he competed for Pasadena City College after graduating from Burbank in 2005.

He made an immediate impact for the Vaqueros last season, catching 11 passes for 135 yards. He was also a punt-return specialist, returning 24 for 306 yards and one touchdown to earn second-team all-conference honors.

"I wish we could have had Jesse for his first year in college," Cicuto said. "He did a tremendous job for us last season."

In 2005, he was an All-South Coast Conference choice as a receiver at PCC.

At Burbank, he left the school as the program's all-time leading receiver, catching 66 passes for 1,404 yards and 19 touchdowns. That record was broken this past season by James Antaplyan.

Dakota Wesleyan, a National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics Division II school in Mitchell, S.D., competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Ayers said he expects the Tigers to improve on their 4-6 mark in 2006.

"The team was mostly freshmen last year, so we are definitely looking to have a better season," Ayers said.

Ayers (5-8, 160) should get his share of playing time, as he will return punts and kicks as well as being a receiver.

"We run a spread offense with five receivers, so, that's perfect for me," he said. "I'm looking forward to playing, and doing as much as I can."
