Official's removal mulled

The association condemns Brown's actions regardless of what form they came in, Burbank Police Officers Assn. President Michael Parrinello said.

"We weren't sure if it was a letter or a statement," Parrinello said. "But either way, those are just side issues here. The real issue is that this statement was made by Mr. Brown; it was referred to in court and figured into the sentencing. And that's where the disappointment comes from the association."

The association will consider whether to take internal action against Brown, which could include his removal as a member.

In regards to Brown's capacity on the airport authority, Councilman Dave Golonski said he had concerns about using a person's opinions expressed about non-committee-related matters as grounds for removal from an appointed committee.

"I think it has the potential to have a chilling effect on people who are willing to serve on boards," he said. "If they have to look over their shoulder on any opinion they express, I think that would be a bad thing."
