Burbank City Council Meeting Preview

ON THE AGENDA

The following items will be considered at Tuesday's Burbank City Council meeting:

TRI-CITY BUS LINK

The council will listen to a presentation from officials from the Los Angeles Department of Transportation concerning a new bus line that links Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena to the Burbank Media District.

The line, route 549, was put into use over the past two weeks.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Given the newness of the route, many residents are unaware it is in operation. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation will acquaint bus riders in Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena and elsewhere with the details of the tri-city line.

COMMUNITY SERVICES BUILDING ART

The council will consider several art pieces to adorn the Community Services Building, which will replace the former Municipal Services Building destroyed in the 1994 Northridge earthquake.

Artist Wayne Healy, who has completed other art pieces in Burbank, was selected to produce artwork for both the interior and exterior of the building.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The costs of the pieces were already included as a part of the project's $38-million budget, so the council will not need to approve any additional funds.

Some of the pieces that will decorate the building include two murals, sculptures and an outdoor metal archway.
