Board members approved the installation of security camera systems at John Burroughs and Burbank high schools at a cost of $108,020 for both schools.
This approval was put off for more than a month to inspect the need for cameras to be installed over the soon-to-be renovated tracks at both high schools.
The cost of these additions was included in the new report to the board on the installation of the security camera systems at both schools.
WHAT IT MEANS
Camera installation is now able to begin at both high schools, although some of the installation over the fields will probably be held off until their completion.

SOLAR PANELS AT MIDDLE SCHOOL
Board members denied a request to install an 8.5-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system — a solar energy panel — at Luther Burbank Middle School.
The board determined the cost of the installation would not be fiscally responsible.
The estimated cost is $85,000.
WHAT IT MEANS
The solar energy panel system will not be installed at the school.
