COUPLE WILL BE HONORED BY TEMPLE EMANU EL
Temple Emanu El will honor Ira and Tobi Lippman during the temple's 60th anniversary dinner dance on May 6 at The Castaway.
The couple owns and manages Peggy Wood's Pet Emporium and The Jelly Bean Factory on Hollywood Way.
Tobi Lippman, a New York City-educated fashion expert, uses her buying savvy to set up shop for the Sisterhood Judaic Gift Shop, which she estimates she's been doing for 20 some years. The busiest day for the gift shop is the annual sisterhood Shop & Nosh in December. The shop, in the temple office, sells hard-to-find Jewish life-cycle cards, Star of David necklaces, Passover plates, Shabbat candle holders and more.
Tobi Lippman is best known for her extraordinary macaroni and cheese and chocolate chip cookies, yet in years past she has made turkey for the preschoolers, latkes at Hanukkah for the congregation and hamentachen for the Religious School.
In addition to owning Burbank-based Peggy Woods Pet Emporium and the Jelly Bean Factory, Ira Lippman also owns and runs several pet and aquatic websites, and an aquatic tank manufacturing plant in Orange County.
At the temple, he serves on the executive board. His domain covers the pre-school and religious school, but his reach is much broader, negotiating Rabbi's Flom's first contract, securing a donation and overseeing the building of the preschool's new play yard.
The couple will be honored during a dinner dance that includes a silent auction. Tickets are $100 a plate. For reservations, call (818) 845-1734.
