Burroughs annual baseball camp set

Players hoping to improve their baseball skills can do so at the fourth annual Boys of Summer Baseball Camps.

The camps will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Burroughs High baseball field.

Athletes 5-13 are invited to attend and the cost is $125 per session. Discounts are available to teams who send five or more players, or for players who attend more than one week.

Under the direction of Coach Tom Crowther, Burroughs coaches and players will be on hand to instruct campers in a wide range of baseball skills.

Girls' volleyball camp offered next month

Female players wishing to improve their volleyball skills can do so at the Volleyball Players Camp.

The camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 9-13 at Bellarmine-Jefferson High. The coat is $90 and is open to girls who will be in fifth-eighth grades in the fall.

At the camp, athletes will learn basic and advanced volleyball skills, including hitting, serving, setting, digging, blocking and teamwork.

The camp is headed by Bellarmine-Jefferson graduates and coaches Miguel Segura and Debbie Segura-Mariscal. Miguel is fresh from leading his Guards boys' team to the CIF Southern Section Division V quarterfinals. This is the sixth year the two have run a camp and they have years of coaching experience between them.

Girls' summer basketball camp set

Burbank High girls' basketball Coach Bruce Breeden will hold a basketball camp for girls ages 8-13.

The camp will run from 8 a.m. to noon July 23-27 at the Burbank High gymnasium, 902 N. Third St., Burbank.

The cost is $150 per person.

Walk of Fame looking for nominees

The Burbank Park, Recreation and Community Services Dept. is giving individuals a chance to be a star.

The organization, along with Burbank Park, Recreation and Community Services Board and the Burbank Athletic Federation, is looking for nominees for the 2007 installment of the Burbank Athletics Walk of Fame.
